There are so many great bass fishing blogs around the web. Anglers today have information on the tips of their fingers that took previous generations of fisherman years of trial and error to learn and perfect. Younger anglers now can tap into that knowledge by surfing the web and checking in on many of the most popular bass fishing blogs on the web. There are expert articles from tour anglers and weekend warriors alike. I enjoy looking through the various blogs on the web for new ideas that the fish in my local lakes and rivers have not seen before. If you are in the south then take a look at bloggers that fish lakes in the west coast and vice versa. A long time ago the BB Cricket was becoming very popular in the lakes in Florida for flipping heavy vegetation and I remember having to order tungsten weights and packets of crickets online because none of the stores carried these in my area, but it was awesome, the fish just chewed them cause they had never seen them crashing through the grass before. This strategy of finding new techniques through researching bass fishing blogs from different parts of the country I imagine will continue to be a consistent method of staying ahead of the local competition.

Also reading about fishing is just fun, so while it may be fun to stay up to date with the latest tournament trends and dock talk through sites like FLW, Bassmaster, and Bass Fan, check out some of the less popular regional blogs by searching google.

Here is a simple overview of how to rig up a chatterbait for bass fishing. The Chatterbait is a great alternative to the spinnerbait and crankbait and personally i get the most success when using this bait in the prespawn. Bang the bait into rocks as you slow roll it along the bottome or pop it through grass if your lake has lots of additional cover. Use a variety of trailers until you find the right one for the lakes you fish, anything from a single tail grub to a small swimbait is a good trailer to rig onto the hook of your chatter bait for added fish attracting action.

Dahlberg Diving Frog Lure Review

This frog has a unique look to it, check out the legs when they are worked in the water they extend and then snap back. Using the super plastic is a great choice for these long legs as they are super durable and it is great that it comes with a second set of legs that you can insert into the frog body for extending the life of the lure. Nothing is worse than a 1 or 2 fish lure and with the extra set of legs you will be sure to be able to catch and land lots of fish before you need to retire the bait. As the video demonstrates the the body is solid and while this may help with the castability of the lure a soft hollow collapsing body of the frog would assist in hook up percentages as the solid body will reduce the number of fish that get sufficiently pinned to the lure to reel them. When you fish all day with a frog for a select number of strikes you want to make sure that those that eat the bait get properly hooked, this lure will require some adaptions or else you may be a frustrated angler loosing fish after fish due to the small bite of the lure. But aside from this it looks like an awesome frog bait that will be a change of pace from traditional frog lures and really help those anglers not proficient at walking the dog with a frog to have a presentation to use in open water situations where a frog is the right forage choice and look for a passing a bass to commit to striking.

Football jigs are the best jig for rocky bottom lakes and when targeting largemouth bass positioned on rockpiles feeding on crawdads. Check out how a football jig will sit in the rocks and not hang up, but still making sure the business end of the hook is positioned properly for a fish to bite the lure and be hooked instantly. Of course you will want to fish it with your favorite trailer like a double tail hula grub or a creature style soft plastic lure to make sure the football jig is appropriately representing crayfish. This lure is ideal in larger rocks as well due to the shape of the jig head it is resistant to getting caught up in the cracks resulting in a lost jig. Pick up a few football jigs next time you are heading out to a rocky bottom lake.

Launching a bass boat is pretty easy as long as you don’t forget a couple of the basic rules when launching a boat. Use common sense and do not try and rush as quickly as possible to get on the water.

Always make sure you:

Put the drain plug in

Unhook the trailer straps

Tie a rope to the bow if your launching by yourself

Unhook the latch from the strap connecting the trailer to the bow

It is always good to remember to get your boat ready in the parking lot at the lake rather than while you are backing down the ramp. This helps keep the ramp less congested and quicker for everybody that is out at the lake to enjoy the water.

If you prepare your boat at the ramp and go on a quiet day your first few times launching your new bass boat, it will be simple and easy and you will be out catching fish. Don’t try and rush things and go for the first time on a busy day like labor day or memorial day weekends, pick a Wednesday and go enjoy the lake so you don’t become a star in one of these bad boat launching videos.

It is a good idea to learn how to drive your boat on and off the trailer a bass boat is designed and built for easily gliding on and off with the big motor. When you are bringing your boat out, place the trailer deep enough in the water so that as you drive onto the carpet bunks of the trailer the boat starts to grip into position. Your trailer should be enough out of the water that you dont go over the trailer roller at the front where the bow rests. In my boat the trailer wheels are just almost underwater, each boat will be slightly different. Once you are on trim up and give the boat just a little more gas until it is snuggly fit on the bow, turn off the engine, walk up the bow, lean over, latch up and crank the latch tight. Trim your motor up and then pull the boat out. This is a much more efficient way of loading your boat onto the trailer and will save your time and help keep the ramp area less congested by getting in and out quickly.

It is important when bass fishing to always be able to make it home thus a quality mapping gps device is always a good thing especially if you happen to fish in very large bodies of water or places with confusing back waters with side sloughs and all kinds of ways to get turned around. With a Lowrance product on your boat you will always at least now which way to point the bow to make it home.
